The Blues...

I am fed up, frustrated, frazzled...You name it the list goes on! Here is the vent I was going to do last night, but instead I'll do it now...

Someone in our house has been sick since the week before Christmas...Every freaking day someone has had Diarrhea, Throwing up, runny nose, croupy cough...Add in teething, and shots and its been miserable! Leah's bonk on the head the other day and our ER trip was just icing on the cake.

It doesn't help that we have been in a cold snap for what seems like forever, so we can't even really get out of the house much, at least for fresh air or for a walk. Cold as in -20, -30c plus windchill (I think that cold its actually the same in Farenheit). The 3am baths and sheet changes while trying desperately not to wake the other sleeping baby...or the tandem middle of the night screams... the laundry with all the barfing and diarrhea has been uncontrollable...the crying has been uncontrollable, oh the crying...today I think after nap time Blake cried for an hour straight...Leah now just screams at the top of her lungs whenever she wants anything, a drink, a snack, a toy anything really...add in a sick Mommy and Daddy and we are literally at our wits end! Even our dog was sick one night up literally all damn night.

It seems like thankfully (knock on wood) this thing is moving south and hopefully on its way out. The last barfing was about 48 hours ago, and we've moved onto the runs. I thought I could really deal with anything but barf... but after being barfed on a dozen times I guess I got a little more immune to it...I kept saying I can anything but not barf...Well let me tell you I was Wrong! It turns out the Runs can infact be worse. Our poor little man has had a bad bad case of Diarrhea the last 3 days...and it is gross. Fingers crossed that this ends soon so mom and dad can catch a break, catch up on sleep and feel better ourselves...I'm not sure how much more of this I could handle before I need to be committed...

Ok, vent over! Here's to better days to come, and some warmer weather!!
Happy weekend!

Blog ABC's

First I want to say HI to all those lovely folks stopping by from all sorts of neat places for ICLW!! Thanks for stopping by!

I was about to come on here and complain about the crappy -30 weather (still!) The sick kids I've had for 2 months (still!) and about how tired I am (still!). Then I went blog surfing and came across the blog ABC'S and opted for the lighter mood of the ABC's...Although I'm sure a real yawner for most to read...

A-AGE: 32...although I am still in denial that I am infact in my 30's...seems impossible.

B – BED SIZE: We have a King size...The current breakdown of bed space is Me 1/2 Hubby 1/4 and Oscar 1/4 (7 pound dog). We have joked that we would like to custom build a bed the width of our room to make room for some kids who will no doubt down the road be jumping in.

C-CHORE YOU HATE: Laundry! I hate hate HATE laundry! It's never ending and it takes forever! (stolen from someone else's abc's but my sentiments exactly)

D-DREAM JOB: Hmm I think my dream job (paying that is!) would be to be an Actress, I always loved drama in school and the few plays I was in or maybe even something fun like a Dog cuddler or a baby snuggler...Don't think those exist...Oh wait...Maybe if I lived in a climate that would allow me to be a full time gardener...sounds peaceful :)

E-ESSENTIAL START YOUR DAY ITEM: Coffee!! Without a doubt, I shamefully admit that I take the twins out of their cribs, plunk them infront of the TV, get my coffee and have a few sips still spaced out, then go back for diaper changes...Can't function without Coffee...My pet peeve about that is when Darling husband hasn't made it yet...

F-FAVORITE COLOR: Red! Love it...my house is riddled with red

G-GOAL IN LIFE: My goal in life was to be a mom...for now I have parked my butt to stop and enjoy what I worked mighty hard for...Future goals...tbd after I'm done smelling my roses. (is that bad I don't have any immediate goals? Ok fine add in exercise more)

H-HEIGHT: 5'7"ish

I-INSTRUMENTS YOU PLAY: Piano, although not well anymore. I have the piano that my mom had when she was a kid...I hope to pass it onto one of my kids...

J-JOB TITLE: Slave to 3 little people...Pay sucks but the rewards are priceless :)

K-KIDS: My miracle babies: Alyssa 4, Blake & Leah 15 months

L-LIVE: Suburbs of a large city in a house with a lovely ravine behind us.

M-MAJOR IN COLLEGE: Didn't attend college...Major life regret...would have loved to have been an elementary teacher

N-NICKNAMES: Well the honey calls me Little, my brother calls me many names Scrawn, Scar, Scronch...really anything that starts with a Sc...His nicknames are the same!

O-OVERNIGHT HOSPITAL STAYS: I stayed 1 night when I was a kid getting my tonsils out...1 night when I had Alyssa and 4 nights when I had the twins.

P-PET PEEVE: My HUGEST pet Peeve right now is freaking shopping carts with only 1 spot for a child...As I've said before not just for a mom with twins but what about all the mom's out there with 2 close in age...Annoying! I almost refuse to shop at your store (except thats its like 1 block from home)

Q-QUOTE FROM MOVIE: "Once it hits your lips its so good" Old school...favorite movie EVER!

R-RIGHT OR LEFT HANDED: Right.

S-SIBLINGS: 1 really awesome older brother Scrawn!

T-TIME YOU WAKE UP: A good time to mention I am NOT a morning person, hence the need coffee before I can change a diaper...I don't appreciate any kind of conversation the first 1/2 hour I'm awake.Wake me in the night, you'll get an elbow...Make any kind of noise in the morning while I am still sleeping and you risk your life..Thankfully hubby gets these now and all is well. What time do I wake up...about 5 minutes after the first child starts to stir...Usually around 8am.

U-UNDERWEAR: Depends on the day and pants :)

V-VEGETABLE YOU DISLIKE: Hmm what to choose there are so many...maybe brussel sprouts

W-WHAT MAKES YOU RUN LATE: a 4 year old and 1 year old twins...I guarantee my lateness!

X-X-RAYS YOU’VE HAD DONE: Real hard core x-ray? I guess none.

Y-YUMMY FOOD YOU MAKE: Well I'm not the greatest cook, but lately we have been making really good Pizza's and the dough from scratch...I use to make really good cinnamon buns...not so much anymore.

Z-ZOO, FAVORITE ANIMAL: Gorilla's

1st ER Visit

Well, the day has come...I hoped it never would but today it did  4 1/4 years into my parenting... I should preface this that Leah is doing fine but man did she give me a scare.

The last 2 months around here have been HARD, no doubt...Never ending sickness (2 months straight to be exact), teething, the non stop barfing and diarreah...but today took the cake. I started today with barf in her crib, she was a teething mess all morning crying non-stop, as well as brother bear. I decided to devote the day to lying around with the kids watching Mickey Mouse and giving snuggle to the too many crying kids.

I ran downstairs for like 1 minute to refill the bowl of fishies crackers when I heard a very loud bang. I ran upstairs knowing full well someone fell..I got to the top of the stairs but heard no crying, I asked Alyssa what happened and she said Leah fell, but I couldn't hear her so I asked "Where is she?", Alyssa pointed to Leah who was lying limp underneath the little art easle. I ran over to her picked her up and she was totally out, eyes rolling back in her head and lips faded of color. I grabbed her and ran with her down the hall to my room and sat down to get a good look at her, she sort of came too and sort of still had her eyes rolling around... I faced her towards me and she threw up all over me and her. My first reaction probably should have been to call 911 but I didn't, I called Kirk crying to come home...then I called my mom crying asking what should I do, she said she didn't know but maybe to call 911...Leah was semi-concious, but still just lying on me...Tried my newly graduated EMT brother to ask him what to do but no answer. I went to the bathroom lied her down and took her clothes off her to wipe her down and clean up the barf, thinking that she'd probably end up at a Dr's of some sort...I stuck her in the bath and  just like that she came to and seemed pretty ok. Bathed her, changed my barfy shirt and waited for Kirk to come home. In the meantime my brother called me back and said, better to error on the side of caution and take her in.
We waited 3 hours at Childrens Emerg to be seen, she had been doing quite well since the bath but I still wanted to be sure she didn't have a concussion or something. The Dr checked her over and said she appeard to be fine and just to keep an eye on her the next 24 hours for anything unusual. So not much was done to her, other than vitals but for my peace of mind tonight I at least know she's ok...I'm still not exactly sure how she fell, she had to have been standing flat on the ground and lost her balance and fell straight back onto the heat register in the carpet or maybe hit her head on the easle on the way down, who knows.
Man that was scary, but she should be 100% ok..Thank GOD!

Heritage Classic 2011

Well the Calgary chinook winds failed us...Kirk and I went yesterday to the Heritage Classic outdoor Hockey Game, Calgary Flames and Montreal Canadians. It was about -15 degrees and it felt COLD!
We just had to drink some nice cold beer...just cause! We both still had colds so we weren't 100% feeling it, but we did have a good time and were super glad we went.
Our friends Rick and Jen were there too...
There was about 40,000 people there, and while our seats weren't the greatest, I'm not sure any were that fantastic when its that cold out. It was pretty tight quarters in the stands which I guess helped with the whole body heat thing..
All in all it was fun to be at and neat to be a part of...
The sun was shining and we had a nice view of Downtown...
...and now I don't have to do it again!!

Wedding

Friday, me and my girl along with Mama and Papa headed up north to Edmonton to my Uncle Jim and Nikki's Wedding. It was a beautiful venue at the Faculty Club at U of A. Nikki looked gorgeous and both of them so obviously happy. It was so nice to see so many family members, it was the a short trip but great...besides the -30 weather!!

Alyssa has so much fun having a girls weekend with Mommy. She was a trooper and stayed up late Friday night for the wedding, plus her excitment of running around the hotel room...it was midnight before we she drifted off to sleep, as she was saying goodnight to me she says "Goodnight Stinker"...hahaha

This post is dedicated to writing down all of Leah's words...This girl is on fire with her talking! Alyssa was a late talker, so its very cute to see such a tiny one talking so much! I guess she's been so busy working on her words she's not interesting in walking...she's even started clumping two words together...

Happy of the Day...

Makes my heart smile...A Mid Day Dance Off in the living room with my kids! Our current favorite is
"Black Eyed Peas -The Time", (listen to me here) it brings out all of our best dance moves. Blake can wiggle like no one else! Of course our Slone Family Theme Song is the Hot Dog Song from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (Listen to me here), that is a sure fire winner to get everyone dancing...

A Lazy weekend...

I ended up getting sick starting Thursday, a little worse on Friday and by Saturday I was pretty useless...Thankfully it was the weekend, so the worlds best husband and father took over without missing a beat. We spent the entire weekend just relaxing and hanging out, and I didn't get out of my pj's for 2 full days! I was a sight for sore eyes by Sunday night!

Saturday I went for a super long nap, as did the babies...So Kirk took his girl outside for a bonfire, marshmellow roasting and snowman building...
We had a good dump of snow a few days before, but the chinook winds came and made for a lovely Saturday afternoon outside...Sad I missed it :(
Alyssa had a great time, and I'm sure ate WAY too many marshmellows...
The end result was a GIGANTIC Snowman, complete with Carrot nose..
and 2 proud snowman builders...

and some jealous onlookers...Too bad momma was too sick to take them outside.
The babies are all into cellphones and pretend talking on the phone, thankfully Alyssa has quite a few around here for them to play with...
I love seeing the 3 of them playing together
Last week I got an email from Old Navy about a sale on kids clothes, I clicked on it to see what was all there..and that was it...Alyssa was hooked. For the rest of the week Alyssa asked to go search for dresses online..It was hilarious, she would zoom in to see the fabric up closer and go back and forth between dresses..She picked out several of her favorites, they were onsale for so cheap I let her order some...She is so excited to get her online purchases in the mail...I may have created a monster!!
There was a whole lot of lying around this weekend...
...Alyssa and Blake play pretty nice together.
Alyssa did some more Valentine's Day preparations...

and made some special cookies from a kit that Momma Leanna gave her...
...and finished up all her bears for her little school friends, she was so proud of them she lined them all up and tried to decide who was going to get who...
We call these next pictures the after dinner crawl...we lie on the floor and the kids literally come and crawl all over us for snuggles and tickles...its priceless
I had to add this one in with the nakey bum, just because its so cute!
I LOVE nothing more than my after dinner crawl :)

We finished up the weekend with baths, I don't usually put them together in this tiny tub but I only had enough energy for a spit bath...I know these crazy babies won't fit in here much longer so I had to get these pictures while I could...

I am pleased to report that Alyssa had wonderful Valentines, everything I think she hoped for. She LOVED giving out her bears today, and getting all the valentines the kids gave to her...We made heart shaped pizza's and we gave her a few little treats...Valentines Day 2011...over!
Too bad this cold isn't over :(

Valentines & more...

Valentines preparations are in full swing over here...Alyssa LOVE LOVES Valen"times" as she calls it. I think it might be her favorite "holiday", but perhaps thats just because thats whats next! She is extra excited this year because she actually has little friends at school to make Valentimes for. It's on a Monday this year and she doesn't go to school on Mondays, she was pretty dissappointed when she found out she couldn't go to the party and exchanged Valentines, so I asked her Teacher if she could please come that day and she said that wouldn't be a problem.

We bought these adorable little foam bears that she can assemble and make herself for all her little school friends.
They are kind of 3D, you bend their little arms and they hold these little hearts. We have written her name on the back of them. She is going to feel so proud handing them out.
We got all sorts of fun crafts to do, she is such a project person and is so awesome at keeping herself entertained, I kind of went a little overboard to help keep her occupied...
But I'm not complaining...
I want my house littered with reminders that we have little children living here...
I'm sure we really only have a handful of years before this kind of thing isn't "Cool" anymore..
So bring on the decorations!! What's next? St.Patricks Day!
Alyssa has been enjoying her skating with Papa Murray on Thursdays...He was away on business this past week so Papa Erv took her!! I was able to go watch her, I haven't seen her skate for a few months so it was fun to see how she has progressed! They were playing with Ringette sticks and rings this week, it was so special to see my little daughter playing with it, as I used to play Ringette as a kid...right through my teenage years...
I can't wait to be a Hockey mom and spend my weekends watching my kids play hockey...
She has already said she will play hockey next year, so we are going to start looking into a little 4 year old hockey program...
This weekend we bought her hockey pants so she can start getting used to skating in them...
She still skates at a snails pace, but she is able to do it without holding on to someone now, so she is improving.

Alyssa loves lugging her brother and sister around the house...
Its actually pretty handy when we are coming home from somewhere, I bring Alyssa and 1 baby in and she carries them to the living room while I go back for the other...
Doesn't she look like such a big kid these days...I can't believe she is getting so big!(think we have enough toys in our living room!)
Speaking of big...these little guys are getting pretty good at hardly holding on...I think they are still aways from walking, but every now and again Blake tries to stand by himself. He is a pretty cautious little guy so he usually gets too scared before really letting go...
We have bit the bullet and booked a trip to take Alyssa to Disneyland in March. We are so stinking excited its crazy! I might be the most excited of all! We are leaving the babies home with Grandma and Grandpa, so we can really spend some good time with Alyssa and spoil her rotten! I think she is just at the perfect age to believe in all the Magic of Disney...Cinderella will be the real Cinderella...I tear up just thinking of her reaction to it all! I can't wait!!!
We were shopping this weekend and bought her a new bathing suit and dress which she claimed was for Disneyland, she thought bathtime was the perfect time to try it out.

 No pictures please!
The sisters having a morning snuggle...
Alyssa's love of Letters, spelling and reading is really starting to pay off...she can now write all the letters of the Alphabet, expect K & Z... I was stunned when I came across her almost perfect letters...
Right before I Christmas I came across a site that makes Blog Books...In a matter of 10 minutes I had a 180 page hardcover book, complete with table of contents and a dedication page. It turned every word I wrote, every picture I posted into a keepsake that will last a lifetime and beyond! I had it express shipped for Christmas and gave it to my family Christmas morning...Kirk shed some tears as he flipped through, when he saw how awesome it was to have our entire year captured into a real book! After getting my book I knew I needed to continue blogging for my family, so every year I can give them a years worth of memories...
Which explains my overload of pictures and details on my recent posts...
 Just capturing our memories!!
