Christmas is coming!

Christmas is on its way in the Slone House!!
We had a great weekend doing wintery, cozy things, the outside Christmas lights are up(they've been up for a few weeks), and we got our tree decorated!
Alyssa thought the perfect attire for tree decorating was Hula skirts and Hawaiian Leis..Sure why not!
Our traditional rum and egg nog in hand and my favorite Boney M Christmas cd playing,
we were ready to go!
Alyssa had a great time going through all the ornaments...
...she only broke 3 glass balls!!

Leah wasn't pleased to be left alone with the weird tree
but she was happy to sit nicely and play with her toys
The curious little boy was ALL over seeing what the tree was all about

Our finished Christmas tree complete with baby gate to keep Curious George OUT of the tree..
Alyssa had a nice weekend...Saturday was girls day and we went to go see the new Disney Tangled movie (it was cute!) and then we went out for lunch...Saturday night we did the tree and Sunday Daddy took her taboganning and for Hot Chocolate...Sunday night she crawled into bed after a nice hot shower and slept like a log after her busy weekend...
Unrelated picture but here are the little buddies who always try and hold hands while they are eating...Muahhh!!! So cute!

Vent of the Day

WHY oh WHY do I never have a can opener that works...I literally go through a can opener every few months. There is nothing worse than a half opened can that you have to pry open and almost slicing your hand open...Bahhh on Can openers...

Happy Birthday Kirk!!

Happy 33rd Birthday Darling!!!

Ok so I'm a few days late, the 22nd was Kirk's birthday, we had the lovely treat of his company all day as he stayed home from work. We let him sleep in and Alyssa and I baked him a cake. She got to decorate it all herself and was so excited to show him and sing him a happy birthday...
Kirk's Birthday "Treat" was to take the kids to the mall to see Santa! I know he was having a good time because as we were dressing the kids for the -30 weather (no joke! thats's -22F for my American friends!) and scrambling last minute to load everyone into the car he kept mumbling "This is fun, this is fun, this is fun"

Funny Alyssa story speaking of Kirks birthday...here is a recap of the conversation:

Alyssa: Dad how do you spell your name?
Kirk: How do you think?
Alyssa: K-I-K
Kirk: Close but its K-I-R-K
Alyssa: (In a sad voice) Oh sorry dad, I spelled it wrong on your birthday card
Kirk: How did you spell it?
Alyssa: I spelled it D-A-D

The kids waiting their turn to see Santa! Alyssa was so excited...this was the first year she actually wanted to go see him and talk to him. She loved it! She gave him a picture and said she wanted a bike for Christmas, which is a good choice ;)
The final product!
Turned out pretty good despite the fact that Leah was screaming, we managed to get a good picture in between screams...Blake was fine with him.
We had to get the babies some new warm boots while we were there, Miss Leah won't keep her socks on for more than a nano-second, I can imagine the looks I'd get from people with my barefoot child in the mall in -30 weather. We came across these adorable fur lined Robeeze...aren't they adorable and sure to stay on!
Alyssa had ballet that night,
so when she came home we did the cake and singing that she waited for all day
She was happy to help daddy
Mama and Papa came over for some of Alyssa's cake!

Big Leah sitting at the island in a booster seat
Off topic pictures but too cute to pass up. Alyssa went to a birthday party a few weeks ago where they got to make their own pizza's, including the dough from scratch...So we decided to try it out at home and they turned out awesome! She was so happy to show Dad how to do it ALL herself...No better outfit to cook than a Snow White dress!

Winter is here!

Winter has arrived!! Tuesday morning winter arrived with avengence and its been yucky, cold and snowy ever since!! It seems a bit early in the season to have this much snow, usually starts the first week of December...We have spend much of the week cuddled up at home in warm clothes and trying not to go insane...I tend to get cabin fever really easily and even the kids get bored staying in so much...All I can think is it's going to be a loooong winter!!

Alyssa and I went outside the first day when it wasn't as cold and played in the snow..It was a novelty for her but I'm sure the excitement will wear off soon! We have been drinking endless amounts of hot chocolate!
She was determined to "play" outside for as long as possible...
We have been trying to come up with new "games" to play and things to do inside...We remembered how much Alyssa used to like to play in the laundry basket, so out it came for space ship rides and cuddles with sister...
Leah's funny squinty smile having so much fun with Alyssa!
These 2 little girls really do love each other...
...a lot! I hope they are always so close!
Leah's eyes are officially greeny/hazelnut color...They've been changing from blue for months and they most certainly aren't blue anymore, you can really tell when she is next to Alyssa who's eyes are really blue
Our little man's eyes are most definitely brown like daddy's!
Blake is such a busy little guy, he is SO unlike the girls...Alyssa was NEVER this busy and into so much..>i am quickly learning the difference between boys and girls...

The girls were having a tea party...The house has been extra cold and the babies crawling, rolling on the floor they've been freezing, so they've been lounging around in their sleeping bags...

Another new favorite activity, playing in and emptying the cabinets...Fun for them, not fun for me to have to wash all the slobery drooled on, all over the floor dishes...
Even poor Oscar is freezing, he's been lounging around in his long johns!!

Baptism...

Sunday November 7th we had the babies Baptized...We were long over due doing it, but combined with their birthday it seemed like the perfect way to celebrate their first amazing year of life!

We had them Baptized at the United Church right down our street. We had Alyssa Baptized in the Catholic church but after some soul searching we felt the United Church was the right place for us.

We were joined by the babies Godmothers Jana & Jannelle, who are my cousins from Vancouver. Godfather Rick, who is one of Kirk's closest friends...We were missing Kirks other dear friend Paul, who couldn't make it out...Grandparents, Aunties and Uncles and cousins were also their for their special day...

Feeling so Blessed to have such an amazing life with our 3 kids...

Jannelle w/Leah, Jana w/Blake and Rick on the end....
