Christmas, 2010..Over!!
My last post I mentioned that Leah had the flu, yeah well we ALL ended up getting it. No matter how prepared you think you are for Christmas, there always seems to be a 100 last minute things you need, trying to squeeze all that in with a sick baby and all the laundry that comes along with that...add in 2 more sick kids, a sick Mommy and a sick daddy...Yikes! Thank goodness that is over!
Christmas Eve is always spent with the Slone side of the family, this year it was suppose to be at our house with Erv and Joyce, Ronda, Tom and the boys, and Tom's mom Slavica. We always do the same Ukrainian Dishes...Borscht, Wheat, breaded Sole, Homemade Perogies and bread, veggies etc. Ronda (Kirk's sister) is having a baby on the 30th and we did not want to have them into our germ filled house and pass along all the nastiness that came along with it...So instead Erv & Joyce came and brought us all the ingredients so we could still have the food ourselves, while they moved to Party down to Ronda's house...I cooked it all up, when it came time to eat it Kirk couldn't eat any and I only had a small bit myself...
They also arrived with a huge wagon filled with gifts! The kids though it was pretty neat,
Leah magically started saying WOW as she looked at all the gifts!!
The other Mama & Papa came over on their way over to Kris & Janes house to drop of their huge load of gifts, Leah's WOW's turned to Wow Wow! Our living room was FULL and I hadn't even put any of ours out yet, and Santa hasn't even arrived yet!
Alyssa and I stopped by Kris & Jane's for a but and Kirk and the babies stayed home to explore the presents.
When Alyssa and I came home, Kirk brought out the magic Christmas Dust Alyssa got from school and we sprinkled our driveway with Oats and Sparkles. The oats are so the Reindeer smell them and the Sparkles are for Santa to find our house better. It was pretty cute because you really could see them sparkling underneath the Christmas lights. Alyssa thought she saw Santa's sleigh in the sky and quickly wanted to go into bed...
After a few hours Santa arrived at our house...
A Mickey stocking, Flames Jersey and stick for Blake...A Minnie Stocking and a Princess ball tent for Leah...
A rather large Red Present for Alyssa and fully loaded stocking...
The babies gave a good start to Christmas and slept in until 8 am...finally at close to 9 we went to wake up Alyssa, she was pretty cranky at first and it took her about 20 minutes of rolling around in her bed to decide she wanted to get up...She has been pretty grumpy the day before we had to put in a few calls to Santa, that morning she asked...Did Santa Come? Yes or No? I guess that was the deciding factor if was ready to get up or not...
Once she was up however she was pretty excited...
Wow what a packed living room of presents!
She helped the babies open their stockings first and showed them how to use the ball tent before she went to her own stuff...
That morning Leah's Wow Wow and had turned into a triple Wow, and for the rest of the day we heard WOW WOW WOW!!!
Our traditional Boney M cd playing, we watched the little ones explore and open their presents...
Finally she was ready to open her big red present!
It was the Bike she had been hoping for!
Santa did good! She was pretty happy!
After the Santa presents and stocking we let them each open one more present before we paused for breakfast. By the time this all happened it was nap time for the babies...
Alyssa wanted to play with each thing after she opened it, plus napping, feeding..the whole gift opening took about 3 hours!!
The little people spent a lot of time in the ball tent...
and even opened some presents in there
Finally Daddy and Blake in a Flames Jersey..I'm surprised it took a whole year!
Even little Oscar got some presents!!
Presents...
Presents...
and more presents!!
The babies got little chairs and matching blankeys they were happy to sit in...
Leah loved hers so much she was clapping with excitement...
Blake even sat in their for awhile to watch Toy Story 3 with Alyssa...
...crazy little guy always has something hanging out of his mouth, he crawls around with some random thing hanging from his mouth...silly boy!
Our house looks like a nulcear bomb went off...
Where the heck are we going to put all this stuff??
We decided to get some fresh air and went out for a little stroll...
As soon as we got back,
it was a race to get out to Mama and Papa Swintons for Christmas dinner on time!
We only ended up being about an hour later than we were planning on..opps! I think they all pretty much expect that from us now!
Kris, Jane, Sophie and Gabe were there...
The best friends were super happy to see each other and immediately started jumping in the couches.
Papa Murray in his Calgary Flames Snuggie!!!???? Who knew they existed!
Little Gabe in is Christmas sweater...how cute!
We exchanged even more gifts!
and once again they got super spoiled!
The babies got a super cool work bench! Not sure where we are going to put it yet!
Mama Leanna made a delicious Turkey dinner complete with stuffing, broccoli casserole, mashed potatoes, corn, butter flake buns, and homemade Gingerbread cake with whipped cream! It was awesome!
The kids had fun playing all together...There are 5 of them all within 3 years, so it can be a bit crazy at times!
....but so much fun!
What a wonderfully busy day!
...and how lucky are we to be surrounded by so much wonderful family!!!
WOW WOW WOW!!!
